1. CSO Exit: HSBC Chief Sustainability Officer Celine Herweijer has resigned from the business only a few weeks after a management reshuffle removed her role from the lender's executive committee, Reuters reported.
2. Partnership - Data Centers: Enersponse and Divcon Mission Critical are partnering to assist data center customers with sustainability, grid reliability, energy use optimization, and operational cost reductions, the two companies said.
3. Quantum Computing: Amazon has launched Quantum Embark, an advisory program that "aims to help customers get ready for quantum computing by providing an expert-led approach, as they embark on their journey."
4. Layoffs - Electric Vehicles: Ola Electric layoffs will impact about 500 employees at the electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India.
5. Lawsuit - Potential Settlement: Tesla appears poised to settle a lawsuit against rival EV maker Rivian Automotive, SeekingAlpha reported. The suit alleged Rivian poached Tesla employees to steal trade secrets.
6. Lawsuit vs. OpenAI: A federal court rejected OpenAI’s effort to toss a lawsuit filed by The Intercept over using its journalists’ work to train ChatGPT without permission or credit, the Intercept reported.

1. Incubator: Boston University announced the 2024 Sustainability Innovation Seed Grant honorees. The grants are designed for "students who are passionate about developing sustainability projects with potential impacts for Boston University and beyond."
2. M&A - Real Estate: Galvanize Real Estate has acquired a 608,000 square foot industrial asset located along the I-95 corridor in Central New Jersey. The building -- which will be transformed to leverage green energy -- is ideally positioned for supply chain and distribution customers, Galvanize said.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News
1. COP29: Rich countries have pledged to provide at least $300 billion annually by 2035, but the deal had critics on both sides of the negotiating table, Bloomberg reported. The African Group of Negotiators described the final pledge as "too little, too late", while the representative from India dismissed the money as "a paltry sum," BBC reported.
2. United States - SEC Leadership Transition: SEC Chair Gary Gensler plans to step down on January 20, 2025. His departure coincides with President Trump's return to office. Gensler attempted to push climate-oriented rules, but the effort faced pushback from ESG critics.
