FNT Software Enhancements: IT Management Platform Gains Sustainability, Scope 3 Reporting Capabilities

August 21, 2024 by Joe Panettieri

FNT Software has enhanced its IT management software for data centers and network infrastructure to include carbon accounting capabilities.

The update reinforces a small but growing trend that involves IT management software gaining sustainability capabilities capabilities.

FNT's software update, known as FNT Command 14, helps customers to manage complex IT, data center, and network infrastructures. New capabilities include FNT Sustainability -- which allows customers to document, track and report on Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, the company said.

Moreover, a preconfigured analytics dashboard provides "actionable insights, supporting greener operations and regulatory compliance, and demonstrating eligibility for financial incentives," the company added.

FNT Software: CEO Perspectives, Software Business Focus

In a prepared statement about the software update, FNT CEO Carsten Wreth said: “We’re proud to release FNT Command 14 and help organizations achieve more efficient, greener IT, data center and network infrastructure operations. In addition to enhancing infrastructure management, the latest version of FNT Command enables organizations to remain compliant with ESG/CSR legislations, reduce OpEx, and become eligible for tax exemption programs.”

FNT Software, founded in 1994, is based in Ellwangen, Deutschland, Germany. The company's management platform is designed for enterprise IT, telecommunications and data center infrastructure customers. More than 500 companies and 25,000 users run FNT's software, the company asserts.

FNT's partner program includes service providers, technology partners, sales partners and solutions providers. We don't know how many MSPs (managed IT service providers) run the software to remotely monitor and proactively maintain customer networks.

IT Management, Sustainability Software Converge

A small but growing number of of IT management software providers have extended their platforms to support carbon accounting and sustainable IT services. Some MSPs also are extending their IT services to include sustainability capabilities.

Examples include:

Customers Want Sustainability Monitoring Technology

Rising interest in sustainable IT services is easily explained. Indeed, roughly 50% of organizations will leverage sustainability monitoring technology to manage hybrid cloud energy consumption by 2026, Gartner predicts.

Still, several major MSP software providers -- companies such as ConnectWise, Kaseya, NinjaOne and N-able -- have yet to announce sustainability-focused software initiatives.
