ITAD - VMware to AWS Migrations: Cloudtech and ReluTech, two prominent AWS partners, have introduced ITAD (IT Asset Disposition) services to help customers migrate from VMware to Amazon Web Services. The ITAD services include "environmentally compliant decommissioning and recycling of outdated hardware facilitate a smooth transition to modern cloud infrastructure," Cloudtech and ReluTech said. Some VMware customers and partners worldwide have been rethinking their platform choices amid Broadcom's acquisition of VMware in November 2023. The acquisition included major channel partner program changes that upset some partners and customers worldwide.
2. Microsoft Layoffs: Microsoft cut two employees from its diversity and inclusion team, GeekWire reported. Some media outlets erroneously said Microsoft laid off that entire time.
3. Trump EV Policy: Trump used his nomination speech to take aim at President Joe Biden’s electric vehicle policies, vowing to take action against them on his first day in office, Bloomberg reported.
4. Oil and Gas Companies - Scope 3 Reporting: Only 9% of oil and gas companies report their Scope 3 emissions from their investments, Clarity AI reported.
5. AI Chip Partnership Discussions: OpenAI has talked to Broadcom about developing a new AI chip, The Information reported.
6. Solar Setback: SunPower stock plunged to an all-time low after the solar company told dealers it would no longer support new installations and was halting shipments, Bloomberg reported.
7. Quantum Computing Market Growth Forecast: The Quantum computing market will create $450 billion to $850 billion of economic value globally, sustaining a $90 billion to $170 billion market for hardware and software providers by 2040, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) forecast.
8. Research: Seventy-four percent of U.S. companies are prepared to disclose Scope 1 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions —up from 61% in December 2022 and 58% in March 2022, Deloitte research found.

1. Funding: Marathon Fusion has raised $5.9 million in seed funding. The startup develops fuel processing technology for fusion energy.
2. M&A - Potential Deal: Robert Bosch GmbH is emerging as the front-runner to acquire a portfolio of heating and ventilation assets being sold by Johnson Controls International, Bloomberg reported. Johnson controls has been trying to sell the assets since January 2024.
3. M&A: Bowman Consulting Group has acquired FCS Group, a consulting firm that "provides solutions to effectively address financial, management, and economic challenges faced by public sector clients." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

1. Puerto Rico - Solar Power: Â The U.S. Energy Department is offering a conditional loan guarantee of up to $861 million for two major solar energy projects in Puerto Rico, Reuters reported. The projects are expected to boost energy security after recent hurricanes severely damaged the U.S. territory's grid, the report said.
2. Europe and China - Wind Power: Chinese wind turbine-makers in July 2024 clinched their first order in Germany, as they build momentum in the European market and add to concern in the EU industry that it faces an existential threat, Reuters reported.
3. Italy - Renewable Energy: Italy’s power generation from renewables overtook fossil fuel sources in the first half of 2024, Bloomberg reported, amid stronger hydropower activity, according to the national grid operator Terna.
