HP's journey toward net zero involves multiple internal milestones along with various channel partner programs and tools for partners and customers.
Among the questions we're checking: Has HP named a new chief sustainability officer (CSO)? Previous CSO James McCall exited the company February 2024. (Stay tuned for an answer on that.)
The timeline below, updated regularly, further explains HP's sustainability strategy, key milestones, customer engagements, partner integrations and more. Check back regularly for updates.
January 2025 Strategy Updates
Accelerator: HP opened applications for the Digital Equity Accelerator. Qualified organizations in Greece, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Spain are invited to apply until February 12, 2025. Selected nonprofit organizations will receive US$100,000 in HP Foundation grants, HP technology (roughly US$100,000 value), and six-months of programmatic support to scale digital equity solutions.Â
Refurbished Hardware: HP is expanding its portfolio of refurbished PCs and adding more devices to its HP Renew Solutions portfolio. The expanded HP Certified Refurbished PC portfolio will include:
HP EliteDesk Mini 800 G6
HP EliteBook 830 G8 (US only)
HP EliteBook 840 G8
HP EliteBook 850 G8
The devices include a standard one-year limited warranty and will now offer the option of two- or three-year Offsite Support packages. HP Certified Refurbished PCs are available direct in the United States and France, and will also be available in the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden and the Netherland in April 2025, the company said.
New Zealand Partner of the Year: HP named Datacom as its Sustainability Partner of the Year in New Zealand for 2024.
September 2024 Strategy Updates
Circular Economy Honor: Market research firm Frost & Sullivan applauded HP for "improving product repairability, reusability and recyclability," the two organizations said.
Refurbished Hardware: HP is expanding its HP Certified Refurbished hardware portfolio to include LaserJet Multi-Function Printers, available for Managed Print Solutions customers in the United States, the company said. Each HP Certified Refurbished device undergoes "rigorous refurbishment and inspection processes, utilizes approved HP parts, and comes backed by HP Support for added peace of mind." The HP Certified Refurbished hardware portfolio already includes HP EliteBook 800 G6 and G7 series notebooks in the United States and France.
Recycled Hardware: HP also is expanding HOPE Recycling Futures, a program that provides recycled PCs to schools serving vulnerable and marginalized youth. More than 16,000 children in 22 countries have benefited from the program through 72 donation projects to date, HP said. The latest move extends the program to Mexico.
July 2024 Strategy Updates
July 17 - New Hire: HP hired Lenovo veteran Claudia Contreras-Gomez as VP of HP Renew Solutions Product and Offer Management. It sounds like she'll be working closely with Grant Hoffman, senior VP & general manager of the HP Renew Solutions business. But we're checking to see if that thesis is correct. Stay tuned for updates.
May 1, 2024 - Partner Program: The company, as expected, has expanded the HP Amplify Impact partner program to include distribution partners and various firms across 48 countries. The program, launched in 2021, is designed to help partners with Climate Action, Human Rights, and Digital Equity. Nearly 50% of program participants have won a new customer in the last 12 months due to participation in the program, HP said.
