1. Research - CSRD Survey Results: Most companies are confident that they will be ready to report under the CSRD requirements, but the biggest obstacles to reporting involve (1) data availability and quality and (2) value chain complexity, a PwC survey found. CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), designed for European Union companies, also has implications and CSRD deadlines for businesses worldwide.
2. Software - CSRD Assessments:  EcoOnline has unveiled a new CSRD Assessment capability within the company's ESG software solution. The CSRD Assessment is available in English, with additional European language support scheduled for later in 2024, the company said.
3. IT Monitoring and Energy Management: ManageEngine is one of the few MSP software providers pitching IT monitoring software for energy management. In separate articles, President Rajesh Ganesan describes how green IT services can support India's sustainability goals, and how sustainable technology can future-proof organizations.
4. IT Asset Management (ITAM) Research: Despite widely available ITAM tools, 53% of IT teams lack complete visibility into technology assets, a Flexera research report found. The report suggests that many companies are consuming more hardware and software than required, and often don't effectively track hardware and software over the lifecycle of such products.
5. Partnership - IT Services and Energy Systems: Capgemini and Equigy are partnering to develop a decentralized energy system that provides Europe with a more sustainable and efficient energy system.
6. Energy Partner Program: Integra, an energy supplier in Italy, Switzerland and Albania, has joined the Itron Engage Sales Channel Partner Program. Moreover, Integra is Itron's first channel partner in Italy. Itron provides energy, water, smart city, Industrial IoT (IIoT) and intelligent infrastructure services.
7. Partnership - Mobile Energy: POWR2 and Powershift Technologies are partnering to promote temporary power solutions and mobile battery energy storage systems (BESS) to customers across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
8. Partnership - Data Centers and Geothermal Power: Google is partnering with Berkshire Hathaway electric utility NV Energy to power its Nevada data centers with advanced geothermal electricity, Reuters reported.
9. Solar Energy: Startup Swift Solar Inc. wants to build a U.S. factory for manufacturing its futuristic panels in the next two to three years amid government plans to bolster the sector against China’s dominance, Bloomberg reported. Swift Solar focuses on energy efficient perovskite technology, though the technology's durability is unproven, the report said.

B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. M&A - Building Engineering: Brush Group has acquired Rybka, a consultancy for mechanical, electrical, building and sustainability services. Rybka, based in Scotland, has more than 50 employees. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
2. M&A - Data Centers: BlackRock has acquired 50.1% of Mainova WebHouse -- a data center developer and operator in Germany, PE Hub reported. Mainova WebHouse's goal is to be "the greenest data center in Frankfurt," the company asserts. The deal essentially makes BlackRock and Mainova Group partners in the data center business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
3. M&A - Renewable Energy: Solar energy provider ECOKRAFT of Sweden has acquired Fenix Solar, a developer of solar monitoring technology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

1. COP29: Ahead of the conference, the biggest fights involve how to allocate trillions of dollars from developed nations to emerging markets — and how China fits into the equation, Bloomberg reported. - Indeed, countries cannot agree on the size of a global funding bill to help the developing world fight climate change - let alone how to split the bill, Reuters added.
2. United States - EV Policy Lawsuit: The nation's largest oil trade group, which includes Exxon Mobil and Chevron, will file a federal lawsuit on June 13, 2024 seeking to block the Biden administration's EV incentives and related efforts to reduce carbon emissions from cars and light trucks.
