1. Data Centers: Digital Realty has signed a renewable energy deal with Süwag Energie AG, Water Power Magazine reported. The agreement aims to power Digital Realty's operations near Frankfurt, Germany, throughout 2024.
2. Solar Energy - Business Challenges: Enphase Energy layoffs and a SunPower business warning reinforced ongoing challenges in the solar energy market.
3. Prison Sentence: Trevor Milton, founder of electric vehicle (EV) truck maker Nikola, has been sentenced to four years in prison for defrauding Nikola investors, The Wall Street Journal reported.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. M&A - Supply Chain Management and ESG Software: Carlyle and Insight Partners will acquire a majority stake in Exiger, a supply chain software company that has ESG monitoring capabilities. Exiger's management, founders, and existing investor Carrick Capital Partners will reinvest equity as part of this deal. Financial terms and valuation information were not disclosed.
2. M&A - Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging: Pacific Equity Partners, a private equity firm, has paid $250 million to acquire a majority stake in EVSE -- an Australian battery charging technology company, The Driven reported.

1. Canada - Fossil Fuels: Some Canadian oil and gas producers say they will not rush to accelerate emissions cuts until they see if unpopular Prime Minister Justin Trudeau survives long enough to implement his proposed oil and gas emissions cap, Reuters reported.
2. Europe - Renewable Energy: Germany and France are among European Union nations aiming to decarbonize their power systems by 2035, setting a key milestone on the way to net zero by mid-century, Bloomberg reported.
3. Germany - Supply Chain Regulations: The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (also known as LkSG) in 2024 will expand to include companies that have at least 1,000 employees. The LkSG entails due diligence obligations relating to human rights and environmental risks and violations, Baker McKenzie reports.
4. Australia - Carbon Credits: Australia will develop a new registry to integrate its fragmented carbon market, improving its efficiency and transparency, Bloomberg reported.
5. Japan - Decarbonization: Prime Minister Fumio Kishida pledged to lead efforts to simultaneously achieve decarbonization, economic growth and energy security in Asia, an ambitious goal he set at a regional climate summit attended by Southeast Asian leaders, the Associated Press reported.
