A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. IT Services and Carbon Reduction: Rackspace in 2025 reduced total emissions by 10% compared to a 2023 baseline, the company.

2. SAP - Software Enhancements: Existing and forthcoming updates to SAP Sustainability Footprint Management will "extend footprint calculations beyond CO2 emissions to include other impact categories, such as land use, energy, waste, and abiotic resource depletion," SAP asserts. 

3. Salesforce Faces Climate Skepticism: A recent Salesforce move -- using gross profit to normalize emissions data -- isn't a measure of global climate progress, an editorial published by Trellis asserts.

4. Data Center: THG has leveraged Pure Storage and various consolidation efforts to cut data center power consumption by 80%, the company said.

5. Partnership - Education Vertical: CoSN and SETDA, in partnership with IT and telecommunications solution provider UDT, recently released a set of Sustainability Procurement Guidelines designed to help K-12 school and district leaders, procurement officers, and technology directors make purchasing decisions that are both environmentally responsible and operationally effective, THE Journal reported.

1. COP30 - United States Question Marks: Some members of Congress are delaying making concrete plans for attending COP30 because of the government shutdown, Politico reported.

2. United States - Wind Energy Pressures: An offshore wind venture between BP Plc and Japan’s Jera Co. plans to close its operating activities in the United States as the clean energy resource faces pressure from the Trump administration, Bloomberg reported.

3. Canada - Data Center and Crypto Pushback: British Columbia proposed legislation to limit how much electricity will be available to AI data centers, and moved to permanently ban new cryptocurrency mining projects.

4. New Zealand - Climate Regulations: New Zealand will ease climate-reporting rules and lift thresholds for how big a company needs to be before it has to report how climate change impacts their business, in a bid to revive capital markets, Reuters reported.
