A. Sustainable IT Partnerships, Strategic Alliances and Strategies

1. Google Net Zero Goal: Google in June 2025 quietly removed its net-zero goals from its website, though the company remains committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030, a spokesperson told Canada's National Observer. 2. Microsoft Further Embraces Nuclear Energy: Microsoft has joined the World Nuclear Association. Related: Microsoft's sustainability strategy and channel partner implications.

3. Enterprise Software: SAP has introduced a Reporting Scope and Data Collection feature in Sustainability Control Tower (SCT).  The new feature provides an "integrated, workflow-based solution that guides users through the process, ensures relevant KPIs are collected, and supports collaboration between central and local teams," SAP said.

4. Data Centers - Cooling Systems: Johnson Controls has launched the Silent-Aire Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) platform. The platform "enables data centers to seamlessly transition to liquid cooling as rack densities rise," the company said.

5. Data Center Construction: RadiusDC has broken ground on a new colocation facility in Nashville, Tennessee. Blue Owl Capital Inc. is financing the project. The data center will leverage a closed-loop cooling system that uses little to no water, RadiusDC asserted.

6. Home Energy Management Standard: The Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA) is preparing the HCA Energy Management Specification 2.0 and HCA Insurance Specification 1.0.

7. IT Services Partnership: Infosys and One Bright Kobe are partnering to introduce various digital technologies and sustainable practices that "redefine live entertainment and sports experiences," The Machine Maker reported.

8. Insurance and Carbon Footprint Tool: Verisk has launched a Property Claims Carbon Calculator -- which "empowers insurers to accurately measure, benchmark and strategise to reduce the carbon footprint for their claims," the company asserted. The tool supports UK insurers. Carbon Trust assisted with the tool's development.

9. Managed Energy Storage System: Eos Energy Enterprises, Inc. (EOSE) has unveiled DawnOS, a battery management system.

10. Roofing Services: IKO has launched Beyond, a "formalized sustainability program designed to integrate responsible practices across the company’s entire value chain – from sourcing and operations to distribution, installation, product use, and end-of-life," IKO said.

11. CSO Exit: Chloé’s chief sustainability officer, Aude Vergne, is leaving the company after nearly a decade, Business of Fashion reported.

B. Sustainable IT Investments, Funding, Earnings and Business Launches

1. Accelerator: The Panasonic Ignition Accelerator is accepting applications for cohort three through September 15, 2025. Panasonic India runs the accelerator.

2. Startup Funding - Home Energy Management: Otovo USA, led by renewable energy veteran John Berger, has raised $4 million to build a home power energy service in the United States.

3. Funding - Managed Energy Systems: Eaton and Xendee are partnering to promote cloud-based energy optimization services. Eaton led Xendee's Series B financing round. We don't know the financial details.

4. Financing - Data Centers: ODATA, which builds and operates data centers in Latin America, announced $1.02 billion in green financing focused on sustainable data center infrastructure investments. ODATA's overall financing has now reached $2.25 billion, the company said.

5. M&A - Carbon Accounting Software: Position Green has acquired Greenomy, a provider of sustainability reporting and EU regulatory compliance software. Euroclear, a Greenomy investor since 2022, becomes a shareholder of Position Green. Private equity firm Norvestor remains Position Green's majority owner. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

6. M&A - Renewable Energy: Solaris Assets has acquired Sunnova Energy International Inc.

7. M&A - Sustainable Energy Consulting: Environ Energy has acquired CSD Energy Advisors, a Houston-based energy management and advisory firm. The deal adds nearly 1,000 new clients to Environ’s portfolio, including multiple Fortune 500 companies and three of the largest industrial energy consumers in Texas. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies, Regulations and News

1. United States Solar Market Forecast: The U.S. solar industry is at risk of installing 27% less capacity between 2026 and 2030 than before the passage of President Donald Trump's tax law that rolled back subsidies for such projects, the Solar Energy Industries Association forecast, according to Reuters.

2. United States - AI Data Centers and Electric Bills: The FY 26 Energy and Water Appropriations Act includes a request to study the impact that AI data centers have on utility bills for consumers, according to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14).

3. Italy - Net Zero Challenges: Italy could fail to meet carbon emission reduction targets agreed at the European Union level due to delays in key green transition areas, including renewable power generation and energy storage systems, a study from Edison and TEHA Group asserted, according to Reuters.
