1. Sustainable IT Services at Davos 2025: SustainableIT.org, a non-profit organization, is hosting multiple initiatives at Davos 2025. A delegation of 35 CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, and Chief AI Officers will promote sustainable and responsible AI practices at the event
2. Talent: Former Nike Chief Sustainability Officer Noel Kinder has joined the UNCAGED Innovations board of directors. UNCAGED is the "first biomaterial company creating sustainable leather from grains," the company asserts.
3. Expansion - CSRD Consulting Services: Locus Technologies, a developer of sustainability and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance software, has doubled its European headcount -- though actual headcount figures were not disclosed. Among the key priorities: Assisting customers with Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) compliance solutions, the company said. Locus Technologies is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, with satellite locations in the Czech Republic and Croatia.
4. Honor: Corporate Knights has named Schneider Electric as the World’s Most Sustainable Corporation for 2025. Schneider Electric, the only two-time honoree, previously topped this annual list in 2021. Here's the global top 100 list for 2025.
5. EV Charger Technology: Schneider Electric has launched the Schneider Charge Pro in Europe, a "robust, energy-efficient electric vehicle (EV) charging solution to accelerate EV adoption among owners of commercial fleets and multifamily residences," the company said.
B. Sustainability M&A, Climate Tech Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Startup Funding - Carbon Accounting Software: Gravity, a provider of enterprise carbon accounting and energy management software, has raised $13 million in Series A funding. Ansa Capital led the round, with participation from existing investors Eclipse, Hanover, and Caffeinated Capital, along with new investors Communitas Capital, Buoyant Ventures, and WEX Venture Capital. Gravity plans to "double down on its energy efficiency marketplace, making it easier for customers to identify and implement energy efficiency projects and introducing new decarbonization and financing partners." Expansion across the United States and Europe also is planned.
2. Investment - AI Software: Google is investing another $1 billion in OpenAI rival Anthropic, the Financial Times reported.
3. M&A - IT Services and Quantum Computing: Accenture has acquired QuSecure, a security company that claims to offer solutions that mitigate emerging quantum computer risks. Quantum computing, still in its infancy, may allow researchers to tackle complex problems to cure diseases, improve energy efficiency and far more.
4. M&A - Asset Leasing: KKR has acquired Dawsongroup, an asset leasing business. The deal is part of KKR's Global Climate strategy -- which focuses on net-zero solutions. Dawsongroup leverages EV, solar, Stage 5 generators, and battery storage as part of its energy-focused service capabilities. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News
1. United States - AI Data Center Startup: In a White House press conference hosted by President Donald Trump, Oracle, SoftBank and OpenAI leaders announced plans to launch The Stargate Project -- a $500 million startup focused on AI infrastructure.
2. United States - New Mexico and Quantum Computing: New Mexico plans to raise as much as $800 million to invest in a quantum computing industrial strategy, and Honeywell unit Quantinuum will be an early recipient for a new research and development center, SeekingAlpha reported.
3. European Union - CSRD Pushback: France is the latest European Union company to push back against CSRD regulations, Bloomberg reported.
