October 28, 2024 by Joe Panettieri

Real estate developer Caddick has hired JustOne UK veteran Jessica Herman as head of ESG and sustainability. Here are four things to know about Caddick's business and sustainability strategy, and Herman's executive experience.

1. Business Focus, Scope and Scale: Caddick Developments, founded in 1979, is based in Wetherby, Yorkshire, England. The family-run business, which is privately owned, specializes in the acquisition, development, construction and management of commercial, residential and retail projects across the United Kingdom.

2. Sustainability Strategy: Caddick is striving to be a net zero business by 2040. The company's ESG strategy, known as Places for Life, surfaced in 2023. The strategy calls for Caddick to "lead in creating the best places in the country, redefining what it means to support people and the environment." On a related note, Caddick is working with Moda Group and Leeds Rhinos to set and achieve sustainability goals across its ecosystem of employees, partners, suppliers, clients and the communities it serves.

3. Jessica Herman's Professional Experience, New Role: Herman previously was associate sustainability director at JustOne UK, a consultancy. Earlier, she was senior sustainability advisor at commercial real estate investment firm JLL.

4. Jessica Herman's Responsibilities: At Caddick, the company said, Herman will work with "senior leaders who form part of its ESG Taskforce and lead governance of the Places for Life strategy. She will also work with colleagues across the four Places for Life working groups who are driving sustainability progress across all Caddick teams, while supporting the business’ wider purpose to create exceptional places and communities where people thrive."

Chief Sustainability Officers: Why Technology Partners Should Care

By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.

The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
