July 30, 2024 by Joe Panettieri

eXp Realty has hired USANA Health Sciences veteran Donald Cherry as VP of sustainability. Here are four things to know about Cherry's experience and expertise, and eXp Realty's sustainability strategy.

1. Business Scope and Focus: eXp Realty, founded in 2009, is based in Bellingham, Washington, United States. The independent real estate company has more than 85,000 agents across the globe. eXP Realty is a cloud-based brokerage that runs FrameVR.io -- an immersive 3D platform. Parent company eXp Holdings (Nasdaq: EXPI) will announce Q2 2024 earnings on July 31, 2024. In Q1 of 2024:

  • Revenue was $943 million, up 11% from Q1 of 2023.
  • Net loss was $15.6 million, compared to a $1.5 million net profit in Q1 of 2023.

2. Sustainability Statements: eXp World has published an expansive sustainability statement, and the company has a Sustainability Committee. Still, we don't know if the company has specific carbon reduction goals or a target net-zero deadline.

3. Donald Cherry's Experience: Cherry previously was executive director of corporate sustainability at USANA Health Sciences, a direct sales company in Utah. He spent roughly 3.5 years in that role. During his 18-plus years at USANA, Cherry also held various director and project management roles at the business. He holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Utah, majoring in communication, and a master’s degree from Northeastern University in leadership and project management. Cherry also has earned executive certificates in sustainability from both Duke University and New York University.

His wealth of experience and dedication to sustainability will play a key role in advancing our initiatives. Donald’s proven track record speaks volumes, and we trust he will guide us in creating a more sustainable future for eXp Realty.”

Chief Sustainability Officers: Why Technology Partners Should Care

By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.

The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
