Vizrt Hires Avinash Kumar as ESG Controller: 3 Things to Know

July 16, 2024 by Joe Panettieri

Vizrt, a provider of real-time graphics and live production capabilities for content creators, has hired Avinash Kumar as ESG controller.

Kumar is one of several recent executive hires at the business. The hires involved sustainability, security and channel partner engagements.

Here are three things to know about Kumar's experience and expertise, and Vizrt's business focus.

1. Business Scope and Scale: Vizrt is short for Visualization in Real-Time or Visual Artist. The company positions itself as the "world’s leading provider of visual storytelling tools for media content creators in the broadcast, sports, digital, and esports industries."

Vizrt, founded in 1997, is based in Bergen, Hordaland, Norway. The company, backed by Nordic Capital, generated EUR 145 million in revenue for 2023. Virzt has roughly 700 employees.

Vizrt published a sustainability policy in 2021, but we don't know if the company is tracking and striving to reduce its carbon footprint.

2. Executive Experience and Expertise: Kumar's expertise, according to Vizrt, extends to integrating sustainable practices, addressing ESG-related concerns, and navigating the evolving regulatory landscape, including compliance with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Kumar previously was an LCA specialist at e-motorcycle maker Cake. Earlier, he had sustainability internships at SustainLab and Enerpoly.

3. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement, CEO Michael Hallén said: "Vizrt’s focus on sustainability is not merely a corporate responsibility—it is a strategic advantage that significantly benefits our customers and partners. By embedding sustainable practices within our operations, we ensure long-term viability, resilience, and a better future."

Chief Sustainability Officers (CSOs): Why Technology Partners Should Care

By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.

The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
