Bostik UK Head of Sustainability Yuliya Nam-Wright: 4 Things to Know

March 12, 2024 by Joe Panettieri

Specialty chemicals company Bostik UK has hired Yuliya Nam-Wright as head of sustainability.

Here are four things to know about Nam-Wright's experience and expertise, and Bostik UK's sustainability strategy.

1. Business Scope and Scale: Bostik, based in France, manufactures and distributes adhesives and sealants for the construction, industrial and consumer markets. The company, part of Arkema since 2015, has business roots that extend back to 1889. Bostik's annual revenues were €2.1 billion (US$2.29 billion) in 2019. We don't have more recent financial data.

2. Sustainability Strategy: Bostik shifted to 100% renewable energy in 2021. Parent Arkema has committed to reducing its Scopes 1+2 greenhouse gas emissions by 48.5%, and Scope 3 GHG emissions by 54% by 2030, compared to 2019. The company's overall plan is outlined here.

3. Yuliya Nam-Wright's Experience and Expertise: Before joining Bostik in November 2023, Nam-Wright was principal polymer sustainability analyst at Wood Mackenzie -- a provider of data and analytics solutions for the energy transition. Earlier, she was sustainability manager at INEOS Aromatics. She also held marketing and consulting positions at such companies as BP, Mintec and Ernst and Young.

4. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement about joining Bostik UK, Nam-Wright said: “"I am excited and privileged to join a vibrant and professional team to further accelerate Bostik’s sustainability efforts in the UK, working in collaboration with the customers and partners throughout the supply chain." I firmly believe that an innovative business model with sustainability at its heart empowers people, enables customers to provide more sustainable products and services and drives up value of the business."

Bostik UK Head of Sustainability: Why Technology Partners Should Care

By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.

The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
