Our updates for Tuesday, March 14, 2023 include:
1. Silicon Valley Bank and Climate Tech: Is the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) a setback for climate technology startups? Bloomberg seems to think so.
2. Partnership - Supply Chain Transparency: Deloitte has agreed to help customers deploy Circulor, a supply chain traceability solution. The Circulor platform allows customers to trace "raw materials as they change state through their entire life cycle from cradle to cradle. Circulor also calculates inherited scope 3 emissions from granular primary data collected along the entire value chain," the company said.
3. M&A: Dar Group, headquartered in the UAE, has acquired a majority stake in CopperTree, a Canadian-headquartered provider of building analytics solutions. The deal will enable Dar Group to grow its market share and "provide a more integrated digital service offering across its core markets, including transportation, buildings, energy, water and industrials," the buyer said. Financial terms were not disclosed.
4. Funding - Electric Vehicle (EV) Charing: Indra Renewable Technologies, a provider of smart electrical vehicle (EV) charging and energy management solutions, raised roughly £20 million in a series B funding to expand beyond the United Kingdom.
5. Funding: Aetos Imaging, a green building and digital twin technology company, has raised seed funding from Valor Ventures. Financial details were not disclosed.
6. Sustainability Center - Singapore: AECOM, an infrastructure consulting firm, has established the AECOM Sustainable Legacies Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Singapore. The CoE will "serve as a hub for innovation, training, and thought leadership that will further enhance the sustainable engineering skills of AECOM’s Singapore employees," the company said.
7. Partnership - Consulting: Capgemini is partnering with Eneco to reduce Eneco’s CO2 emissions by one megaton through joint initiatives across scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2030. Eneco expects to be carbon-neutral by 2035, the companies said.
8. Partnership: etisalat by e& will leverage IBM sustainability software to help to help the company's environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
9. Partnership - Supply Chain Management: Ernst & Young (EY US) and o9 Solutions have inked an alliance to provide advanced supply chain planning solutions backed by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), big data and cloud computing, the companies said.
10. Systems Integrators and Sustainable Buildings: To truly design sustainable buildings, owners should include systems integrators in the process from the start, according to Justin Lavoie, a VP within Schneider Electric’s U.S. EcoBuildings division.
11. Green Data Center: Hong Leong Bank’s new data centre in Malaysia received a Titanium+ Tier recognition from the Green Climate Initiative (GCI) organization. The data centre is officially a Certified Green Computing Facility and is the only facility in Malaysia to achieve the Titanium+ ranking by scoring 99 points out of 100 in the Certified Green Computing Facility Weighted Scorecard, the bank said.
