1. Research - Net Zero Goals and Manual Processes: Fully 80% of businesses surveyed across Asia, Europe and the Middle East have established sustainability targets. But of those target setters, roughly 53% continue to rely on manual methods for measuring their progress, an Alibaba Cloud survey found.
2. Data Centers and Nuclear Power: The effort to restore Unit 1 at Three Mile Island is expected to take four years, at least $1.6 billion, and thousands of workers to complete the unprecedented task of restarting a retired nuclear plant, Reuters reported. Constellation Energy is restarting the plant, which Microsoft will leverage for energy.
3. Data Centers and Fossil Fuels: The tech industry is enamored with nuclear power, but for now it will lean heavily on fossil fuels to power artificial intelligence data centers, The Wall Street Journal reported.
4. IT Services: IBM continues to tout IT sustainability optimization assessments to help customers optimize data center energy consumption.
5. Partnership - GreenOps Cloud Services: Xebia has signed a five-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Together, the two companies plan to serve customers in the Netherlands, UK, Middle East, the United States and central Europe. Key services include migration and application modernization; GreenOps; FinOps; machine learning and generative AI; and digital sovereignty.
6. Partnership - Travel and Hospitality: BeCause, a Danish start-up focused on how the global hospitality, travel, and tourism industries manage their sustainability data, is partnering with the Global Destination Sustainability – Movement (GDS-Movement). Their goal: Help tourism and event organizations, including Convention and Visitor Bureaus (CVBs), Destination Management Organisations (DMOs) and National Tourism Organizations (NTOs), gain insight into their region's sustainable accommodations and offerings.
7. Consulting - Rebrand: Advait Infratech Ltd (AIL) will rebrand as Advait Energy Transitions Limited (AETL) in November 2025. The name change reflects AETL's core focus on Power Transmission, Generation and Energy Transitions.
8. Annual Report: Nikola, a provider of zero-emissions transportation and energy supply and infrastructure solutions, has released the company's 2023 Sustainability Impact Report.
9. Solar Energy Startup: Keep an eye on Aetherflux, a startup that plans to deliver solar power from space. Founder and CEO Baiju Bhatt previously co-founded financial trading platform Robinhood.
10. GenAI Lawsuit: The Wall Street Journal parent Dow Jones and the New York Post are suing generative AI search engine Perplexity for copyright infringement, The Journal reported. Related: See all GenAI lawsuits here.
11. Greenwashing Allegations, Fine: The SEC charged New York-based investment adviser WisdomTree Asset Management with making misstatements and for compliance failures relating to ESG-related investments. Without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings, WisdomTree agreed to a cease-and-desist order and censure and to pay a $4 million civil penalty, the SEC said.

2. M&A - IT Services and IT Asset Disposition (ITAD): Sage Sustainable Electronics, backed by Closed Loop Partners, has acquired Relectro, an electronics repair, refurbishment and logistics services provider.
