September 10, 2024 by Joe Panettieri
SUEZ Group, a provider of circular solutions for water and waste, has hired Stéphanie Cau as chief communication, marketing, sustainability and public affairs. Her start date is October 1, 2024.
Here are five things to know about Cau's experience and expertise, the SUEZ business, and the company's sustainability strategy.
1. Executive Transition: Cau succeeds Frederick Jeske-Schoenhoven, executive VP and chief strategy and sustainability officer. Jeske-Schoenhoven is exiting the business to pursue new opportunities, the company said.
2. Business Scope and Scale: SUEZ, founded in 2003, is based in Paris, France. The company was formed through various acquired assets. SUEZ has more than 40,000 employees across 40 countries. Revenues were roughly €8.9 billion (US$9.82 billion) in 2023.
3. Sustainability Goals: SUEZ announced various sustainability ambitions and 24 operational commitments in January 2023. The company is seeking to reduce its direct and indirect carbon emissions by 45% by 2030. The overall goal is to achieve net zero by 2050.
4. Stéphanie Cau's Experience: Cau most recent was chief communications officer at automaker Renault Group. Earlier, she spent nearly a decade at Bureau Veritas Group -- where she held various chief of staff, VP and senior VP positions involving CSR, branding and communications. Bureau Veritas, by the way, has a strong sustainability and renewable energy focus.
5. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement, SUEZ CEO Sabrina Soussan said: “I am thrilled to welcome Stéphanie Cau as our new Chief Communication, Marketing, Sustainability and Public Affairs. Her prolific career experience in industry and services will be major assets, supporting us in our new phase of development. I would like to thank Frederick for his contribution and commitment during the first two years of the new SUEZ. I wish him every success in his future endeavours."
