National MSP Touts E-Waste Reduction, Technology Recycling Partnership

BetterWorld Technology, a national managed services provider (MSP) in Illinois, has selected PCs for People as its lifecycle disposal and technology recycling partner. 

BetterWorld Technology, founded in 2002, in based in Naperville, Illinois. The MSP offers managed IT services, IT consulting and cyber capabilities.

PCs for People, founded in 1998, is based in St. Paul, Minnesota. The non-profit organization provides e-waste recycling services, free end-of-life IT asset management, technology refurbishing and more. The organization seeks to provide affordable computers and Internet access to low-income individuals and families.

Through the PCs for People relationship, BetterWorld Technology will "ensure that its e-waste is recycled in an environmentally responsible manner, significantly reducing the carbon footprint and contributing to a greener planet," the organizations said.

Moreover, PCs for People will refurbish usable devices and distribute them to low-income individuals and families, helping bridge the digital divide, the firms added.

The partnership surfaces at a key time. Customer demand for e-waste reduction and circular economy services is surging. Indeed, the global e-waste management industry will reach $244.56 billion by 2032, up from $57.81 billion in 2022, according to Allied Market Research. That's a 15.7% compound annual growth rate (CAGR), the market research firm said.

Sustainable IT Services: How to Get Started

Still, the shift to sustainable IT services varies from region to region.

On the downside, only 16.7% of IT professionals worldwide consider sustainability a top issue, The Register reported. On the upside, roughly 50% of partners worldwide said that they expect to generate revenue from sustainability solutions in 2024 – up three percentage points from 47% in 2023, according to research firm Canalys.
