Batory Foods has promoted VP Rita Ramirez to chief people and sustainability officer.
Here are three things to know about Ramirez's experience and Battery Foods' sustainability strategy.
1. Business Scope and Scale: Batory Foods, founded in 1979, is a national distributor that supplies ingredients to food, beverage and nutraceutical manufacturers. The company, based in Rosemont, Illinois, distributes more than 2,000 brand name ingredients to more than 600 customers. The overall business has more than 500 employees.
2. Sustainability Strategy: Batory Foods in 2021 worked to establish a sustainability baseline. In the first half of 2022, the company began to formulate its vision and targets for sustainability -- though we don't know if the vision and targets have been publicly communicated.
3. Rita Ramirez's Expertise and Experience: Ramirez joined Batory Foods in 2010 as a commodity contract manager. She rapidly climbed the executive ranks as corporate excellence manager (2015), director of human resources (2018) and VP of employee experience (2020), according to her LinkedIn biography.
During her career, Ramirez formalized Batory Foods' human resource functions and led initiatives in the areas of talent management, diversity & inclusion, employee engagement, environmental, health & safety, and sustainability, the company said. Her focus on culture and wellbeing has led to Batory achieving certification as a Great Place To Work in 2020 and 2022, the firm noted.
Batory Foods Chief Sustainability Officer: Why Technology Partners Should Care
By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.
The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
