A. Sustainable Technology, Talent, Partnerships and Green IT Alliances
1. Partnership - IT Carbon Footprint:Â Dynatrace is working with Lloyds Banking Group to measure the environmental carbon impact of its IT ecosystem, the companies said.
2. Partner Program Growth - Sustainability and ESG Applications: Sustaira’s partner network quadrupled in 2023 and now features sustainability consulting and implementation partners in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, China, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany and other regions. Example partners include Capgemini and Siemens. Sustaira did not disclose specific revenue figures involving partners.
3. Rebrand: Climate Club, which develops a Carbon Planning & Analysis (CP&A) platform for global enterprise organizations has changed its name to Clarasight.
4. Research - SMB Sustainability: Only 4% of small and midsize businesses (SMBs) measure their carbon emissions, according to the YPO 2023 Global Impact Survey.
5. Talent - Environmental Consulting: Verdantas, an environmental consulting and sustainable engineering firm, has hired Optiv, Arrow Electronics and Avanade veteran Sujan Turlapaty as its chief digital and information officer (CDIO).
6. Power Purchase Agreement (PPA): Google has signed its largest ever power purchase agreement (PPA) with offshore wind projects off the coast of the Netherlands as part of efforts to green its power supply and hit climate targets, Reuters said.
7. Partnership - EV Charging Infrastructure: Schneider Electric and Charge&Go by e& are partnering to to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the UAE, the companies said.
8. Expansion - Specialized EVs: FIRSTGREEN Industries has expanded its North American footprint -- reporting more than 120 loaders operating across the U.S. and Canada. The skid steer company has added new dealerships in New York, Washington, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Ohio and Maryland, with nearly 20 dealerships now selling FIRSTGREEN machines. FIRSTGREEN’s machines bring near-silent operation, zero emissions, minimum operating fluids, and minimum maintenance, the company asserts. The machines are also 98% recyclable, the firm said.
9. Growth - EV Charging Networks: Charging sessions on ChargePoint's EV charging network across the United States rose 53% in 2023 vs. 2022, the company said. The growth is a silver lining for ChargePoint, which had layoffs in January 2024 and September 2023, along with a CEO and CFO change in November 2023.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. Financial Negotiations: SunPower has received "waiver extensions" for various credit agreements and also received $20 million in financing commitments from majority shareholders TotalEnergies and Global Infrastructure Partners. Moreover, SunPower continues to evaluate "all strategic alternatives toward a long-term financial solution." The financial update surfaced roughly two seeks after SunPower essentially announced layoffs in mid-January 2024.
2. Funding - Software: Watershed Technology has raised $100 million Series C funding at a $1.8 billion valuation. The company develops enterprise sustainability software. Watershed Technology's partner program includes consulting, technology and data partners.
3. Funding - FinTech: Crux has raised $18.2 million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Crux is building a platform for sustainable finance, starting with transactions of the new transferable clean energy tax credits created by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the startup said.
4. M&A - Solar Energy: Altus Power has acquired various solar power infrastructure from Vitol for $118 million. The deal includes thousands of long-term solar customers served by a mix of rooftop, ground and carport arrays in the U.S. Northeast region, the buyer said.
5. M&A - Consulting: Serco has acquired sustainability and engineering consultancy Climatize, which is based in the UAE. Climatize specializes in green building engineering and sustainability strategies. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
6. M&A - Solar Energy and Storage Solutions: Aggreko has acquired the UK and South African based businesses of RenEnergy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News
1. United States - Tesla Lawsuit: A group of 25 California counties have sued Tesla, claiming the electric vehicle maker mishandled hazardous waste at its facilities across the state, Reuters reported.
2. United Sates - California Climate Data Lawsuit: A coalition of business groups led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce filed a federal lawsuit against the State of California over its two recently-enacted laws forcing companies to disclose climate data, FOX News reported.
3. Europe - Farmer Concerns: Farmers are expanding their green rules protests across Europe, Reuters reported.
4. India - Fossil Fuels: India has walked back on a promise to set aside 300 billion rupees ($3.6 billion) to help state oil refiners decarbonize, and now plans to disburse nothing this fiscal year, Bloomberg reported.
