2. Honorees - Sustainable Mobility: The Company Lab (CO.LAB) and TennSMART announced four winners from the first-ever Sustainable Mobility Reverse Pitch. The honorees include JAKAPA, Meredot, FYT and Kuza.
3. Microsoft: Inherit Carbon Solutions inked a a carbon removal offtake agreement with Microsoft.

5. Apple - Right to Repair: Apple has extended Self Service Repair to the iPhone 15 lineup and Mac models powered by the M2 lineup. Moreover, Self Service Repair is now available in 24 additional European countries, including Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, Portugal, and Switzerland. With this latest expansion, Self Service Repair now supports 35 Apple products in 33 countries and 24 languages.
6. Apple - Diagnostics Tool: Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair is now available in the U.S., with European support planned for 2024. Intended for users with the knowledge and expertise to repair Apple devices, Apple Diagnostics troubleshooting sessions "will give customers the same ability as Apple Authorized Service Providers and Independent Repair Providers to test devices for optimal part functionality and performance, as well as identify which parts may need repair," the company said.
7. Partnership - Electric Vehicles: AT&T plans to purchase Rivian electric vehicles (EVs) in early 2024 as part of a strategy to "improve safety, reduce costs and cut its carbon footprint," the companies said.

9. Partnership: Ferrari and Philip Morris International (PMI) together are studying ways in which they could cut the carbon footprint of their factories in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, Reuters reported.
B. Sustainability M&A, Investments, Funding and Green IT Business Launches
1. M&A - Engineering: Norda Stelo has acquired CWA Engineers Inc. (CWA), an engineering company based in Vancouver. The deal is "rooted in a commitment to innovation and sustainability," the companies said.
2. M&A - Engineering: Verdantas, a private-equity-backed firm specializing in environmental consulting, sustainable engineering, modeling and digital technology, has acquired GRP Engineering, Inc. (GRP).

C. Regional and Global Sustainability Policies and News
1. United States - Energy Transition: California’s risk of power shortfalls and blackouts has fallen as more renewable energy and batteries are added to its electric grid, while such threats in New York rose thanks to higher electricity demand and new restrictions on gas-fired power plants, Bloomberg reported.
2. United States - Carbon Capture: The US goal to cut carbon dioxide hinges on carbon capture technologies that will seek to transport and bury more than a billion tons per year, Bloomberg reports.
3. United States - SEC and ESG Reporting Rules: The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) expects to announce ESG reporting rules in the second quarter of 2024, JDSupra reported.
4. Donald Trump's Perspective: Donald Trump, if elected as president again, would renege on a $3 billion U.S. pledge to a global fund meant to help developing countries cut emissions and adapt to climate change, Reuters reported.
5. COP 28 - White House Statement: While there is still substantial work ahead to keep the 1.5 degree C goal within reach, the COP28 agreement "puts us one significant step closer" to that goal, the Biden administration said.
6. COP28 - Outcome: A deal for the world to transition away from fossil fuels was hailed as a historic achievement, but there's a good chance it won't achieve its ultimate goal - holding global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, Reuters reported.
7. COP 28 - BRICS: Russia’s “task is to combine efforts and common approaches in the Eurasian space and in the BRICS space” when it comes to the BRICS climate agenda, Russia First Deputy Economy Minister Ilya Torosov told Bloomberg.
8. COP28 Building Sector Reaction: The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) stated: "We are encouraged that the UAE Consensus uses stronger and more specific language in calling for accelerated efforts towards net zero emission energy systems and transitioning away from fossil fuels. For the first time, the agreement calls on countries to contribute to doubling the annual rate of energy efficiency improvements and tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030. These express targets will drive needed investment across the building sector which has the opportunity, and now the imperative, to deliver significant reductions of greenhouse gases."
