October 25, 2024 by Joe Panettieri
GlobalConnect Group, a broadband service provider for the Nordic region, has promoted Kristian Uldall to head of sustainability. Here are four things to know about GlobalConnect's business and sustainability strategy, and Uldall's professional experience.
1. Business Focus, Scope and Scale: GlobalConnect, founded in 1998, is based in Stockholm, Sweden. The company provides fiber-based broadband services to more than 830,000 private consumers and end-to-end connectivity solutions to 30,000 business customers. GlobalConnect's fiber network spans 235,000 kilometers across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and Finland. That network manages more than 50% of all data traffic in the region, the company asserts. GlobalConnect backed by roughly 2,000 employees, generated turnover of SEK 7.6 billion (US$717 million) in 2023.
3. Kristian Uldall's Executive Experience: Uldall previously was associate manager for strategic sustainability consulting at GlobalConnect. Earlier, he held key strategy and sustainability roles at Rambøll, GlobalConnect noted.
4. Executive Perspectives: In a prepared statement, Sofia Lisa Dinesen, senior VP of group strategy & ESG, said: "We play a critical role in society and must therefore also be ambitious on the sustainability agenda across our own organisation and in our value chain. Here, Kristian Uldall will play a crucial role in the intersection of strategy, business, and sustainability, so we ensure that ambitions continue to result in actions that truly impact our carbon footprint."
Added Kristian Uldall: "My most important task is to ensure that we constantly focus on minimising our climate footprint and on creating a positive change across our value chain. When we further accelerate our work with sustainability, it benefits society as a whole but especially our customers, as we support them in their climate goals."
Chief Sustainability Officers: Why Technology Partners Should Care
By 2027, 25% of Global 2000 companies will have assigned a chief sustainability officer (CSO) responsible for meeting their organization’s ESG goals and making ESG-related IT purchasing decisions, according to IDC.
The bottom line: Technology partners need to extend their sales, marketing, engagement and support strategies to successfully fulfill those CSO customer needs, Sustainable Tech Partner believes.
